Baseball Recap: Frisco Has No Trouble Against Plano West

Frisco made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Plano West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Frisco Raccoons put the hurt on the Plano West Wolves with a sharp 8-2 win on Friday. This was payback for the Raccoons, who suffered a 7-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caleb Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Brendan Kennedy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Frisco got a big performance out of Jackson Voris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Voris is becoming a predictor of Frisco's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Mason Mitchell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Frisco has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Plano West now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Frisco will take on The Colony in a tournament on Saturday. The Colony is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Plano West, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge McKinney Boyd at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McKinney Boyd's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
