The Gaither Cowboys lost against the Blake Yellow Jackets back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gaither lost to Blake at home by a decisive 71-52 margin. Gaither has struggled against Blake recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marc Fransberg, who scored 11 points. Leroy Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Blake was led to victory by Joe Philon and Joshua Lewis. Philon scored 18 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds, while Lewis scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomon Godbolt, who scored nine points along with two steals and two blocks.
Gaither has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Blake, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Gaither won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Largo at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Largo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 222 points over their last three matchups. As for Blake, they will head out on the road to face off against Strawberry Crest at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
