Basketball Recap: Cassopolis Piles Up the Points Against Lawrence

A well-balanced attack led Cassopolis over Lawrence in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cassopolis Rangers blew the Lawrence Tigers out of the water with a 67-40 final score. The Rangers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Ayden Gillam was a one-man wrecking crew for Cassopolis as he posted 30 points and five boards. Those 30 points gave Gillam a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Williams, who earned 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Cassopolis is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Lawrence, they dropped their record down to 1-13-1 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassopolis won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bloomingdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cassopolis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Bloomingdale likes a good challenge. As for Lawrence, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Bangor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
