Dunnellon is 2-8 against Eastside since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Dunnellon Tigers are on the road again and plays the Eastside Rams at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dunnellon extended their postseason success on Friday against The Villages Charter. They snuck past the Buffalo with a 65-59 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Tatiana Matthews was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Dunnellon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Princess Hardin, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eastside didn't have too much trouble with Palatka on the road on Friday as they won 52-37. The win made it back-to-back wins for Eastside.
Dunnellon's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Eastside, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Dunnellon beat Eastside 65-54 in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dunnellon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
