Rancho Christian is a perfect 3-0 against Liberty since August of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Bison at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rancho Christian has ten straight wins, Liberty has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Wednesday, Rancho Christian got the win against Arlington by a conclusive 3-0.
Rancho Christian was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-21, 25-11.
Rancho Christian can attribute much of their success to Bailey Morrison, who had 45 assists and three aces, and Brighton Richards, who had seven digs and one assist. The dominant performance also gave Morrison a new career-high in kills (four).
They weren't the only good servers: Rancho Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Liberty didn't have quite enough to beat Paloma Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2.
Liberty wouldn't go down easily and took Paloma Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 25-14, 19-17.
Rancho Christian's victory bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Rancho Christian took their win against Liberty in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
