Football Recap: Carlsbad Piles Up the Points Against Oceanside

Carlsbad won the last time they faced Oceanside and things went their way on Friday too. The Lancers took their contest with ease, bagging a 48-14 win over the Pirates. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lancers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Pirates are ranked 197th).

Despite the loss, Oceanside still got an impressive performance from Anthony Barquinero, who threw for 280 yards and two TDs. A healthy portion of that aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Kymani Nua.

Carlsbad has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 45.5 points this season. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlsbad is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on El Camino at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Oceanside, they will square off against Mission Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
