The Westminster Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They snuck past Savanna with a 87-81 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Westminster was led to victory by Eric Hoang and Sean Le. Hoang scored 24 points along with eight rebounds, while Le scored 24 points. The contest was Le's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Tran, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Savanna lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dontey Henderson. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with nine steals. Henderson scored a full 38.3% of Savanna's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Paul Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Savanna struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westminster racked up 21 assists.
Westminster now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Savanna, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Westminster will be home for the holidays to greet La Quinta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in La Quinta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Savanna will take on El Toro in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at. El Toro is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
