Baseball Recap: North Bay Haven Academy Takes a Loss

North Bay Haven Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Marianna on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Marianna Bulldogs by a score of 12-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Tuesday.

Tyler Simmons made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Waylon King was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

Simmons wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Bay Haven Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marianna only managed ten hits.

North Bay Haven Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. Marianna's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7.

Looking ahead, North Bay Haven Academy will challenge Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Bay Haven Academy has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Marianna, they will square off against Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
