The South Shore International Tars will take on the ACERO Garcia Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for South Shore International: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while ACERO Garcia has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
South Shore International lost 16-3 to Agricultural Science on Thursday.
South Shore International saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Ferrell, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Jakyri Mitchell was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, ACERO Garcia posted their closest victory since May 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Dunbar 9-7. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Mightymen recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Adrian Lechuga was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Lechuga was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for ACERO Garcia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Isaac Mota was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Villegas, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
ACERO Garcia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
South Shore International's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for ACERO Garcia, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
South Shore International came out on top in a nail-biter against ACERO Garcia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Tars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
