Makayla Kelly made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Aucilla Christian got a massive performance out of Alexandria Whaley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Harli Ray was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Aucilla Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lafayette didn't have quite enough to beat Union County on Monday and fell 5-4. The Hornets have struggled against the Fightin' Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Khloe Crotts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ella McAdams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Kerby, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Lafayette now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Aucilla Christian, their record now sits at 4-7.
Aucilla Christian couldn't quite get it done against Lafayette when the teams last played back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
