The El Capitan Vaqueros will venture away from home to take on the Otay Ranch Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
El Capitan managed to slip by Bonita Vista the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Vaqueros lost 11-1 to the Barons on Tuesday. The Vaqueros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

El Capitan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Simone, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Simone is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Otay Ranch). They blew past Olympian 12-0 on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Kaylin Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Venice Inguito was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kalina Sangalang, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Otay Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Otay Ranch now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for El Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
El Capitan couldn't quite get it done against Otay Ranch in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Vaqueros avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
