Waynesburg Central and West Greene are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. Waynesburg Central will take on West Greene at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Waynesburg Central is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Jefferson-Morgan on Monday. Waynesburg Central came out on top against Jefferson-Morgan by a score of 7-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gina Tedrow made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Bre Kerr was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Schaum, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Waynesburg Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Greene is still undefeated this season after their match against Avonworth on Saturday, but Avonworth came as close as anyone has to beating them. West Greene came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Avonworth. The four-run effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Payton Gilbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Gilbert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmaline Beazell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylee Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
West Greene's record is now 5-0. As for Waynesburg Central, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Waynesburg Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like West Greene struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Waynesburg Central came up short against West Greene in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Waynesburg Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
