The Senn Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Northside Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Senn is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Senn couldn't beat Lincoln Park on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Bulldogs took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.
Pippa Gerharz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Northside might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Payton College Prep who claimed the real prize. The Mustangs fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Grizzlies since May 5, 2016.
Jilliyn Yung was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Yung was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Payton Phoxay made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashley Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Northside has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Senn, their record now sits at 10-5.
Northside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Senn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. It's a different story for Northside, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Senn's hitters?
Senn might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Northside in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
