In what's become a running theme this season, the Great Mills Hornets gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to La Plata for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-13 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Great Mills has managed all season.
Great Mills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abril Esparza, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Esparza pulled down eight or more rebounds. Karleigh Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, La Plata saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Parker scored ten points.
Great Mills' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for La Plata, they bumped their record down to 3-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Great Mills will take on McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully McDonough focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Friday.
