The Maplesville Red Devils suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Chilton County 71-42. Maplesville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.
Despite the loss, Maplesville still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Wilson, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakobe Nix, who scored nine points.
Justin Godwin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chilton County, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Godwin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was DJ Caffey, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Maplesville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Chilton County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-12.
Maplesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Notasulga at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Notasulga is ranked 393rd, while Maplesville is ranked 385th). As for Chilton County, they will head out on the road to square off against Calera at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Calera is on a four-game streak of home losses, Chilton County a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
