Williams is 10-0 against Ash Fork since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Williams Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Ash Fork Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Seligman scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, Williams still came out on top. Williams snuck past Seligman with a 64-58 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Williams.
Nickoli Cody continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Trimble, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after only 20 points in their last contest, Ash Fork made sure to put some points up on the board against Grand Canyon on Wednesday. Ash Fork blew past Grand Canyon 57-25 on the road. Ash Fork pushed the score to 47-18 by the end of the third, a deficit Grand Canyon had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Gabril Zeller, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Josue Tellez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Williams is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Ash Fork, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
Saturday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: JP Echeverria and Tellez. Echeverria has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 9 points, 3.2 steals, and 7.5 rebounds. For his part, Tellez has averaged 12.4 points and 1.1 steals.
Williams didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Ash Fork when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williams since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
