The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws will square off against the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Stanislaus' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Forrest County Agricultural's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Stanislaus fell victim to West Marion and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. The Rock-a-Chaws' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
St. Stanislaus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Warren Gunter, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Forrest County Agricultural got the win against Lamar Christian on Friday by a conclusive 8-2.
Lee Roberts III made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Forrest County Agricultural: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Trip Carpenter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Sean Walker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Forrest County Agricultural is undefeated when Walker posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mclemore, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Forrest County Agricultural now has a winning record of 12-11. As for St. Stanislaus, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Everything went St. Stanislaus' way against Forrest County Agricultural when the teams last played on Saturday, as St. Stanislaus made off with a 13-6 win. Will the Rock-a-Chaws repeat their success, or do the Aggies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
