The Denver South Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Heritage 61-28 at home. Given Denver South's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Heritage is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nevaeh Millard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Denver South's points. Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Avalon Lux-offermann, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lux-offermann pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lauren Wapelhorst, who scored seven points.
Denver South's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Denver South will be playing at home against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Northfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Arvada West at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
