Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bloomfield waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Shiprock Chieftains with a sharp 25-0 win. The Bobcats' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Trae Woods made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Johnny Yates was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pecotte, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .653. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shiprock only posted an OBP of .316.

Bloomfield's record now sits at 14-4. As for Shiprock, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bloomfield will face off against rival Miyamura at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Shiprock is set to challenge their familiar foe Gallup at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
