Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Carlisle County

Carlisle County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Webster County Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Karter Hutchinson made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Jonah Bruer looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, Koltyn Perez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Carlisle County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan O'Neill, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Carlisle County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Webster County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlisle County will challenge Hickman County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Comets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Webster County, they will welcome Taylor County at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
