The Wasatch Academy Tigers posted their biggest win since November 17, 2023 on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 83-54 win over ISchool of Lewisville. Given Wasatch Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Utah, while iSchool of Lewisville is ranked 387th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
ISchool of Lewisville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylen Lawal, who scored 22 points. That was a full 40.7% of iSchool of Lewisville's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Taylor-Franklyn, who scored nine points.
Wasatch Academy pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.6 points per game. As for iSchool of Lewisville, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Wasatch Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Desert Valley Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. ISchool of Lewisville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Simeon at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th.
