The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts will square off against the Rincon/University Rangers at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mica Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mountain View on Friday as Mica Mountain made off with a 10-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbolts in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now won three in a row.
Maddux Rocha looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Mica Mountain got a massive performance out of Raydon Rocha, who scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Rocha a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Brady Webster, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.
Mica Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted an OBP of .267.
Meanwhile, Rincon/University came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Palo Verde on Friday.
Thomas Montgomery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Montgomery was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Valentino Sandoval was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mauro Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Mica Mountain's win bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Rincon/University, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Mica Mountain took their win against Rincon/University in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Will Mica Mountain repeat their success, or does Rincon/University have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
