The Averroes Falcon have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Elliot Christian 67-39 at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Averroes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Elliot Christian lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jeremy Nielsen, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The matchup was Nielsen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gaither, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Averroes now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Elliot Christian, they bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Averroes will square off against Emery at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Elliot Christian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Venture Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Venture Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Elliot Christian likes a good challenge.
