On Friday, The Ringwood Red Devils faced the Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ringwood took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pond Creek-Hunter. Ringwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pond Creek-Hunter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Ringwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rowdy Schmidt. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Ringwood and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Oklahoma Bible (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Pond Creek-Hunter, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ringwood will take on Garber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garber is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Pond Creek-Hunter, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cherokee at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Cherokee is ranked 22nd, while Pond Creek-Hunter is ranked 25th).
