The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Plainview 71-49. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge found their leader in underclassman Rena Rasmussen, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rasmussen has scored at least 25% of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's points. Kaida Eriksen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Defeat or not, Plainview got some senior leadership from Abbie Kromarek who scored 26 points along with six assists and four steals and Teya Boyer who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Kromarek's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Plainview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will be home for the holidays to greet Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is ranked 35th). Plainview won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Elkhorn Valley at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th.
