The Hurricane Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Bear River Bears at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hurricane knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Bear River likes a good challenge.
Hurricane is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on West with a sharp 24-8 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Hurricane got a massive performance out of Faith Fuller, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Fuller has posted since back in March. Addi Lauritzen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hurricane was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Bear River made sure to put some runs up on the board against Green Canyon on Friday. The Bears blew past the Wolves 12-2. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Kate Wilson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aubree Fry was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Tisdol, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Bear River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Hurricane, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-14.
Both Hurricane and Bear River just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hurricane suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Bear River in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
