Softball Recap: Traverse City Christian Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Traverse City Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mason County Eastern Cardinals a 16-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-7 on Monday.

Abigail Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Miller was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Traverse City Christian let Sadie Brown-Bannon and Kaitlynn Payne run wild. Brown-Bannon went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Payne went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Payne has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Avary Ehlert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Traverse City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Traverse City Christian's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mason County Eastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Traverse City Christian will head out to take on Brethren at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mason County Eastern, they will face off against White Cloud at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
