The Corinth Holders Pirates are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against the Apex Friendship Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pyper Vardy made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (one). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liana Giron, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Marks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Meanwhile, Apex Friendship had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Seaforth 14-3. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Corinth Holders, Apex Friendship also got a great game from a two-way player: Sydney Joyce. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Joyce was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaylee Marquis and Cheyenne Christman did most of the damage at the plate: Marquis scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Christman went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Hannah Parker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
