Fairmont hasn't had much luck against Beavercreek recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Firebirds will welcome the Beavers at 5:00 p.m. Fairmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Fairmont will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Centerville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Firebirds came out on top against the Elks by a score of 9-5 on Monday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Jaylin Turner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Turner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Paige Russell was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Hannah Perdue was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fairmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Beavercreek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Warriors 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beavers have posted since March 22nd.
The team relied heavily on Brylee Greene, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
Fairmont moved to 7-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Beavercreek, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Fairmont couldn't quite get it done against Beavercreek in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Will the Firebirds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
