Alma is 2-7 against Bridgeport since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Alma Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Bridgeport Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Alma unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 80-54 loss at the hands of Freeland. While losing is never fun, Alma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Freeland is ranked 33rd).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Bridgeport, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 74-53 walloping at the hands of Powers Catholic on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bridgeport has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Alma's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4. As for Bridgeport, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Alma came up short against Bridgeport in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 68-56. Can Alma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
