The North Sanpete Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Carbon Dinos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Sanpete is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
North Sanpete suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 75-40 defeat at the hands of Emery. North Sanpete has not had much luck with Emery recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cole Cook, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Swapp, who scored ten points.
North Sanpete struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Carbon had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Canyon View with a 62-58 win on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Zeke Willson was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryker Butler, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
North Sanpete has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Carbon, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. North Sanpete hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.5 points per game. It's a different story for Carbon, though, as they've been averaging only 51.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
North Sanpete strolled past Carbon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 66-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Sanpete since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
