Charlie Scherer posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Saturday. As a matter of fact, he produced his best game of the campaign: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Wheaton Academy's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 5-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Looking ahead, Scherer and Wheaton Academy will square off against Chicago Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will enter the matchup having just beaten Marian Central Catholic, so the Warriors will have to guard against a team looking to keep the ball rolling.
