The Brighton Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Fairview Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Brighton put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over Prairie View. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Thunderhawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Among those leading the charge was Blake Andrews, who rushed for 47 yards and a pair of TDs. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Dalton Walker, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brighton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Brighton, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Walker, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fairview's strategy against Fort Collins on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Lambkins out of the water with a 60-29 final score. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Fairview's win came from a few key players Brighton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ki Ellison, who threw for 354 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 45 yards. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sabi Ruttgers, who gained 150 total yards and two touchdowns.
Brighton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Fairview, their record is now 6-1.
Brighton was dealt a bruising 35-7 loss at the hands of Fairview in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Jordan Rechel (who rushed for 102 yards and three scores on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
