The Union County Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Union City 50-36. The win was some much needed relief for Union County as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Katie McCashland, who scored 28 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ally Gray was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the loss, Union City still got an impressive performance from Luane Schoonbroodt, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 36.1% of Union City's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Oaklee Reichard, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Union City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Union County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Union City, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union County will take on Knightstown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Knightstown is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Union City, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Seton Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
