The Chazy Eagles came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 46-27 victory over Keene Central. Given Chazy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Keene Central is ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chazy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Gonyo-Lafountain out in front who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Turek, who scored 11 points.
Chazy pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Keene Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chazy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Indian Lake Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. As for Keene Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Placid at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
