Hawthorne hasn't had much luck against Interlachen recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets will square off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Hawthorne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Hawthorne was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Countryside Christian on Monday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Minutemen. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Tison Thomas was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Branson Byrd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Hawthorne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside Christian only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Interlachen didn't have quite enough to beat P.K. Yonge on Tuesday and fell 6-5.
Cason Turner put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Turner wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jed Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. That hit marked the first that Thompson has got this season.
Hawthorne's record is now 3-4. As for Interlachen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Interlachen's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hawthorne has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. It's a different story for Interlachen, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Hawthorne's hitters?
Hawthorne might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Interlachen in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
