Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Hamilton's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

Hamilton won against Basha last Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Huskies never let the Chandler Wolves get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Liliana Russo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Megan VanDenburgh was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Alicia Benites also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Hamilton lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Hamilton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chandler, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will welcome Corona del Sol at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chandler, they will be playing at home against Gilbert at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
