Even though the Springfield Spartans have not done well against the Cloverleaf Colts recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Springfield breezed by Cloverleaf at home to the tune of 47-17. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Springfield has managed all season.
Despite the defeat, Cloverleaf saw an underclassman step up: Kayla Shook scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cloverleaf struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The win makes it two in a row for Springfield and bumps their season record up to 10-12. As for Cloverleaf, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.
Springfield will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Orange at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Cloverleaf, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norwayne at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
