The West Point Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 48-27 walloping at the hands of Maricopa. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Point of the 44-29 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Lydia Clark was a one-man wrecking crew for Maricopa as she scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clark has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Gardner, who scored ten points.
West Point's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for Maricopa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Point will take on Cesar Chavez at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cesar Chavez is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season. As for Maricopa, they will be playing at home against Valley Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Vista will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Maricopa surely won't give up without a fight.
