The Nashville Hornets lost against the Mater Dei Knights back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Nashville took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mater Dei. It was the first time this season that Nashville let down their fans at home.
Mater Dei's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drake Wagner led the charge by scoring 18 points. Garrick Winkeler was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Nashville's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Nashville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Anna-Jonesboro at 7:45 p.m. on January 26th. Mater Dei's road trip will continue as they head out to face KIPP at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. KIPP has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
