Softball Recap: Tri Has No Trouble Against Morristown

Tri never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Morristown on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Keirra Mettert and Lyla Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Mettert went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Mettert a new career-high. Becca Sherwood was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Tri always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morristown only posted an OBP of .333.

Tri's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Morristown, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will welcome Winchester Community at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Falcons have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Morristown, they will be playing at home against South Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
