Lathrop barely beat Livingston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans' defense stepped up to hand the Wolves a 26-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Lathrop got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luz De Luna out in front who threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns. JaLeiyah Ray helped De Luna out on the ground, picking up 36 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lathrop's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Faith Butler.
Lathrop has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.9 points over those games. As for Livingston, they dropped their record down to 9-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lathrop is set to challenge their familiar foe Central Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Spartans 9.4, the Hawks 11.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Livingston will take on rival Johansen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
