The Titusville Rockets will face off against the Franklin Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Titusville will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Titusville took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Sharon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 8-7. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Blake Schmidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Schmidt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

| 04/29/24 vs Hickory | 2 |
Schmidt wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Mong, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Mong a new career-high. Brody Sellen was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Titusville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Franklin came up short against Slippery Rock on Monday, falling 12-4. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.
Titusville pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Titusville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Titusville took their win against Franklin in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
