After a string of three wins, the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland Christian. Academy at the Lakes has struggled against Lakeland Christian recently, as their contest on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Lakeland Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kiya Boyce out in front who scored 5 points along with 8 steals and 6 assists. Boyce is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Isa Cano was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Academy at the Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Lakeland Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy at the Lakes will challenge North Tampa Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully North Tampa Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
