On Thursday, Farwell ended up a good deal behind Robertson and lost 65-51. While losing is never fun, Farwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 598th in Texas, while Robertson is ranked 15th in New Mexico).
Robertson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathaniel Gonzales led the charge by scoring 17 points. Mateo Contreras was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Farwell has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Robertson, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Farwell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Spearman at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Robertson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pojoaque Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 5th.
