Umatilla is 2-8 against South Lake since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Umatilla Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Umatilla will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Umatilla gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They really took it to Mount Dora for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-27 win on the road. 62 seems to be a good number for Umatilla as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Umatilla found their leader in underclassman Herly Brutus, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Brutus is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadon Gibbs, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, South Lake strolled past Real Life Christian Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 54-36. Given South Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Real Life Christian Academy is ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Umatilla is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for South Lake, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
