The Grand County Red Devils will play host again and welcome the Maeser Prep Academy Lions, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grand County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Grand County can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on San Juan with a sharp 66-40 victory. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Grand County had established a 20 point advantage.
Grand County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cadence Kasprick, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Kasprick hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhiannon Hren, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maeser Prep Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 39-21 bruising from American Leadership Academy.
The losing side was boosted by Autumn Dossey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below 14 rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Octavia Mosher, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Grand County's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Maeser Prep Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Grand County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Maeser Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Grand County beat Maeser Prep Academy 53-46 when the teams last played back in November of 2021. Will Grand County repeat their success, or does Maeser Prep Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
