Long Reach is 2-8 against River Hill since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Long Reach Lightning are on the road again and plays the River Hill Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on February 12th. Long Reach has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 872 points over their last 12 games.
Long Reach can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. Everything went their way against Hammond as Long Reach made off with a 69-45 victory. Given Long Reach's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Hammond is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Wilde Lake scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, River Hill still came out on top. River Hill took their game against Wilde Lake 70-61. The win made it back-to-back wins for River Hill.
It was another big night for Braden Sauritch, who almost dropped a double-double on 35 points and nine rebounds. Sauritch is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Aiden Igwebe was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Long Reach pushed their record up to 19-1 with that win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for River Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.
Long Reach came up short against River Hill when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-64. Can Long Reach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
