Sycamore hasn't had much luck against Mason recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Aviators will challenge the Comets at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Sycamore barely beat Colerain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aviators were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Cardinals on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Aviators in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Avery Hartig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Gambaccini was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Alex Davis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Mason gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on East Central with a sharp 13-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Sycamore, Mason also got a great game from a two-way player: Sadie Hayes. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hayes has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Morgan McBrayer and Audrey Renners did most of the damage at the plate: McBrayer went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Renners went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Becca Zellner, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Mason was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mason's record now sits at 10-6. As for Sycamore, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Sycamore hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mason struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Sycamore suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Mason in their previous matchup on April 6th. Can the Aviators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
