The Parker Broncs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Kingman Academy Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Parker's victory against Mohave Accelerated wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Parker skirted past Mohave Accelerated 8-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Broncs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Maddix Young was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Young was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Oscar Ortega was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cesar Carasco, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Kingman Academy got the win against Highland Prep West on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-1. Considering the Tigers have won three games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Parker, Kingman Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Baylor Short. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Short was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rilee Otto, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cormac Cone was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Kingman Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Prep West only posted an OBP of .429.
Kingman Academy now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Parker, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Parker has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kingman Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Parker beat Kingman Academy 4-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Parker repeat their success, or does Kingman Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
